Betty Price was a staff member at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley when her pastor and the newly appointed president of The Master’s College, Dr. John MacArthur, asked her and others from the church to come teach at the school. The Bible department at TMC only had a few full-time professors then, and the growing student body necessitated more.

Price arrived at TMC in 1985, and for the next 40 years she taught at least one Bible class for women every semester. She also worked in Student Life for a large portion of that time, including serving as dean of women for 14 years. During her time at the school, she impacted the lives of innumerable women eager to study Scripture more deeply. Among the classes she taught were Message Prep for Women, Principles of Personal Bible Study, and Personal Discipleship.

Dr. Thomas Halstead, dean of the School of Biblical Studies, also came to TMC with Price in 1985. He greatly values the time he worked alongside her until her retirement in 2025, calling her “a consummate teacher and discipler.”

“She really poured herself into her students,” he said. “She was one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever known.”
